Your trusted partner in East Iceland.

A family-owned travel company, sharing the places and people we know best.

It started with
a snowcat named Tanni.

In 1970, Sveinn Sigurbjarnarson began operating a snowcat and a passenger bus in East Iceland. Four years later, he bought Tanni: a snowcat that carried people over the Oddsskarð mountain pass between Eskifjörður and Norðfjörður.

Tanni also took travellers and scientists onto Iceland’s glaciers. The journeys grew, the fleet expanded, and the snowcat’s name became part of the family business.

In 1993, Sveinn and his daughter, Díana Mjöll Sveinsdóttir, formally established Tanni Travel. East Iceland has remained at the heart of the company ever since.

Our work goes beyond the tour.

The same roads that lead our guests to new experiences connect our schools, workplaces and neighbours. Being part of this community shapes how we work.

Here all year

Alongside our tours, we provide school transport in Fjarðabyggð, employee transport for local companies, and journeys for sports clubs and local events.

Room to explore

We have supported Náttúruskólinn, the Nature School, since November 2023, providing a bus and driver to help children take part in outdoor learning.

Care in the everyday

We choose local suppliers whenever possible, support cultural and sporting activities, and invest in staff training, including first aid and professional development.

Our commitments, in more detail.
