Itinerary
Jökuldalur Valley
Rjúkandi waterfall
We start with a drive to Rjúkandi Waterfall in Jökuldalur Valley, where we make a short stop and walk up to the waterfall. From here, we continue to Stuðlagil Canyon.
Stuðlagil Canyon
On the east side of the Jökulsá River, a roughly half-hour walk takes us to the canyon. We spend around 2–3 hours at Stuðlagil, with time to explore, enjoy the scenery, and stop for snacks and drinks.
The river is usually turquoise through much of the summer, changing to grey glacial water around the beginning of August.
Vök Baths
After the canyon, we continue to Vök Baths on Lake Urriðavatn. Enjoy Iceland’s first floating pools, a larger pool with its own bar, a steam bath and a cold mist tunnel. Vök Bistro overlooks the lake and pools, with a menu focused on sustainability and local ingredients.
